WHAT IS ABA THERAPY?

ABA treatment involves applying evidence-based methods of learning to shape positive

behaviors. It involves a Board Certified Behavioral Specialist (BCBA) and a team of Registered

Behavioral Therapists (RBT). A BCBA is a behavioral clinician with a master’s degree and

experience in behavioral sciences. The RBT is a trained specialist that works with individuals

under the close supervision of the BCBA. The care plan of every learner is completely

individualized and skills are systematically taught with an ongoing data analysis. Modifications

are made as progress is made or as needed. The length of time dedicated to ABA services

depends on the severity of the clients challenging behaviors and individual rate of improvement.

It is decided on the clinician’s recommendation after the case assessment and Insurance approval.

HOW DO WE DO IT :

We ask questions such as:

  • Does your child have difficulty expressing their wants and needs?
  • Does your child have restrictive interests?
  • Does your child fixate on those interests?
  • Does your child have trouble transitioning to and from activities?
  • Does your child have difficulty forming or maintaining social relationships?

At HAPPYIAN, our holistic, multidisciplinary team will create a comprehensive plan to develop your child’s skill set and set them up for success. Using scientific approaches, ABA systematically teaches and increases significant behavior in order to decrease maladaptive behavior.

We do this by identifying the FUNCTION of your child’s behavior… We answer the question WHY?

For example, We teach the learner that simply asking for a cookie will result in getting

a cookie, versus engaging in tantrum behavior to get a cookie.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

It is important to us to:

  • Evaluate where you are now
  • Determine which behavior requires change
  • Set goals and expected outcomes
  • Learn new skills and or learn how to avoid negative behaviors
  • Establish ways to measure changes and improvements
  • Regularly review progress
  • Decide whether behavior modification is needed.
